IMHO

The Orba 2 is a capable and likable device but I feel it is hamstrung and limited by the approach of Artiphon to how it should be used. Right from the start this didn't suit me, so I began finding out how to work around that. Artiphon has provided the capabilities for users to create their own presets for the device, but they don't offer all that I require. Presets I have created have partly overcome some of those limitations.


I considered creating a document that would cover what I have learnt and what can be done, but that was a daunting project. I may attempt to do it in due course.


It is important to be aware that experimenting with the Orba 2 can brick the device. I don't guarantee anything. Artiphon are aware of this sort of activity, but they won't support it or answer questions about it.


I will use this space to offer presets I have created and feel may be useful to others. As far as I can tell,  presets for the Orba 2 will also work on the the new Artiphon Chorda. When I can, I will add presets intended specifically for the Chorda as some may be better to use on the Chorda with some modifying or use capabilities not available on the Orba 2.


I cannot, and will not try to, answer questions about aspects of functions like midi and bluetooth functions. 


What I am doing has been informed by the efforts of a few people who have contributed to the Artiphon community forum, along with what I have learnt myself. I'm very grateful to them for what they have taught me.

 In July 2024 Artiphon released new firmware and a new version of the Connect app for the Chorda and Orba 2. This had a big effect on Chord presets and this was a big blow to me. I will try to explain it and what I have been trying to do to mitigate the damage it did to my use of the Orba 2 and the Chorda. The most obvious difference was that all chord presets by default play their standard chord set. Other chord sets defined in a preset are ignored and are no longer used. The standard set is OK, but it is restrictive and rather plain - but I could get round that by creating my own chord sets - I made a lot of them. I'm back again

Since the apparent demise of Artiphon I've been trying to post information that might help people out, and am considering offering some content (just presets, not songs or stems) because there won't be anything coming from from Artiphon. It's a bit tiresome posting stuff on different places so instead I plan to post anything I have to offer here. In due course, feedback will make it more likely to continue - because I'm just human, but negative doesn't have to be a bad thing if it helps me be informed what people might like/want. I'd like to say that I will post something new monthly - but that's not realistic so it may be longer than that. I will aim in each link to include something brand new and something that you may already have if you've used my previous preset packs (although they may be slightly different for you convenience). A Bunch of presets for your Chordas and Orba 2s

 Here we go, bass presets to enable you to do more, lead presets to have some new sounds and greater range. There's even a drum kit there.  No chord presets though - this is because almost all the ones I have made for the Orba 2 get spoilt by the way the Chorda treats them. When I've got a handle on that I hope to start adding some other treats. Mostly diatonic and with versions that allow you play all those black notes you couldn't before. And a couple of surprises. Bear in mind that if you load the presets that use my samples they will take up storage space on your device. That shouldn't be a problem unless you have been wildly making loads of your own samples - and even then it will probably been some time before it matters.
